Hillebrand snaps up Scots bulk liquid logistics firm for undisclosed sum

Logistics provider Hillebrand has acquired Scotland-based Braid, a key player in bulk liquids logistics, for an undisclosed sum.
The German logistics giant said that the deal, which was announced yeserday, will boost its position as a logistics company for alcoholic beverages. Initially, the two companies will run their operations separately, with the intention of merging the businesses within the next year.
Braid, which transports bulk liquid around the world via its fleet of specially prepared tanks, and has facilities in both the UK and China said that this was a “major growth opportunity for both businesses, according to CEO Allan Leddra.
"Braid offers an exciting opportunity for Hillebrand to strengthen its network of services, products, skills, knowledge and teams," said Hillebrand's CEO Cees van Gent. "With its global reach, wide range of customized logistics solutions in bulk liquids transportation, as well as its manufacturing and technology know-how, the acquisition of Braid supports Hillebrand's strategy to not only lead the market in logistics services for alcoholic beverages but also for non-hazardous bulk liquids."
This is the third such acquisition for Hillebrand in recent years, following its purchase in June 2019 of German tranport operator 3W Logistick, while in December it snapped up US transport business Royal Logistics.
